The 2010 Mystic Irish Parade Film Festival

PRESS RELEASE:

Mystic Independent Theater proudly presents: The 2010 Mystic Irish Parade Film Festival, featuring two new films about Liam Clancy and a special evening of family songs & stories with Aoife Clancy.

Our festival will honor the life and work of Liam Clancy, and pay tribute to his recent passing on December 4, 2009.

Through the kind efforts of film producer Anna Rodgers we bring you a new feature documentary from director Alan Gilsenan. The Yellow Bittern: The Life and Times of Liam Clancy is a revealing and surprising portrait of Liam Clancy of The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, and the man that Bob Dylan called “just the best ballad singer I’d ever heard in my whole life”.

Liam Clancy & Friends: Live at the Bitter End is the second film we are screening, for it’s USA premiere! Liam Clancy returns to Greenwich Village for a unique music event at the legendary Bitter End, fifty years after the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem made their first recordings during New York’s folk heyday.

We are delighted to present a special evening with Aoife Clancy! Aoife Clancy comes from a small town called Carrick-on-Suir in Co Tipperary Ireland. She is the daughter of Bobby Clancy of the Clancy Brothers and grew up in a family steeped in music. Her performance will include family songs along with stories of her upbringing in Carrick-on-Suir and Ring Co Waterford where her mother is from and also where her uncle Liam Clancy resided.
